Make Money with Affiliate ProgramsAffiliate programs make a great home business opportunity. There are little to no start up costs, and by using affiliate networks like LinkShare and ShareASale, there is very little risk of the companies not paying you for your work. Affiliate networks list hundreds or thousands of affiliate programs to join. Most networks also consolidate your earnings between however many programs you are in, so you won't have to wait to earn the minimum at each program before getting paid.What type of products & services to affiliate with?There are 2 schools of thought on this. For a beginner, definitely choose something you are familiar with. What do you know about and enjoy?More experienced affiliates may just choose based on commissions, and work from there. Get a pen and paper and do some brainstorming. Don't limit your ideas or censor yourself. Write general ideas about the things you are interested in and know about. Once you have a decent sized list, edit it down to a few favorites. Now, you need to consider which is your first choice of your list - would it be a profitable area? If not, move on to the next choice. What types of products and services are related to your choice? Do a search for your topics and see what the first few sites in the search results are promoting. Affiliate WebsitesAgain, there are a couple of paths you can take here, I suggest starting with a CONTENT website. You might also build a mini site.You can get a hosting package and domain name at OnSmart Network You might also decide merely to promote your affiliate link, perhaps using PPC. Maybe your favorite topic was swimming. Start brainstorming ideas on what sub-topics your site will cover, such as bathing suits, noseplugs and local pools. Stick with a tight niche area, in other words, if you've chosen swimming as your topic, don't also have pages on gardening, webmaster tools, and motherhood on the same site. Stick with swimming. Your traffic and ads will then be more targeted. Once you've chosen a few affiliate programs relating to your site subject, you can add them to your site. You could write a one page description of the product, or an entire book. More is better for search engine promotion aspect of your site. Keep adding new content regularly, and get your site listed in directories and on other sites.
